2.: SUMMER BREEZE 2012 @ rockinvasion
Our friends from Rockinvasion were out and about again during SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2012. Some of you may have got their mic rammed in your faces in order to get some wisdom (and alcohol) drenched words from you. But the bands weren't safe from the camera team either.

3.: CORVUS CORAX release DVD of their SUMMER BREEZE 2012 show
Many of you probably remember the captivating gig CORVUS CORAX played at last year's SUMMER BREEZE festival accompanied by the taiko drummers of WADOKYO. Said event will soon find its way into your living rooms, because the kings of gleemen are planning the release of a DVD which they are financing through the crowd-funding platform Pledge.

Here's a few words from the band itself:
“Since 2012 there is a project into which we're pouring our hearts and souls. Together with the Düsseldorf taiko academy WADOKYO we are working on the fusion of our music with the traditional Japanese art of taiko drumming. We are fascinated by the power and energy that emanates from this centuries-old tradition, and we're happy we found collaborators such as WADOKYO, who are among the best of their craft in Europe. So far we have performed the live show 'CORVUS CORAX meet WADOKYO' twice: at the Castlefest in the Netherlands and at one of Germany's biggest metal festivals, Summer Breeze.”

The show was filmed at both festivals and will be released on DVD in late April. Since CORVUS CORAX have always been independent from the record industry and even run their own label, it was only obvious for them to look for new possibilities on the internet. That's why the fans are being involved in both the planning and financing of this release. There are of course a lot of exclusive and unique things to purchase, such as a private banquet with the band in the Spandau citadel, an unplugged show in your living room, musical isntruments built by Wim and many more.

1.: More bands confirmed

Far too long it's been quiet around Sweden's NAGLFAR. Their latest album 'Harvest' dates back to 2007. After that, their fans had to endure a real test of patience. However, just in time for our 15th anniversary, band leader Kristoffer W. Olivius and his cohorts have finally shown some mercy. 'Teras' is NAGLFAR's new, hate-filled storm of nordic/melodic black metal, and it's right on par with its predecessors in terms of intensity and class. And that's certainly no mean feat, keeping in mind the band's debut album 'Vittra' was an instant genre classic, which managed to gracefully carry on the legacy of a certain band named Dissection. Since then, NAGLFAR have had to go through a few line-up changes, but this hasn't harmed the black metal flagship's status in the least. That's why we are incredibly stoked to welcome Umea's finest at SUMMER BREEZE again after their first appearance in 2003!

Since their formation, EVERY TIME I DIE have set themselves apart from the hordes of soundalike hardcore bands by never pinning themselves to just this one style, always being able to look beyond their own noses. No matter if it was rock, alternative or speed, they were never bluffing, as all of their excursions into neighboring genres made perfect sense. Same thing happens on their new album 'Ex Lives', which is once again coherent without sounding limited or stagnant, which nowadays is no mean feat. So if your like your hardcore varied and ambitious yet light-footed, honest and authentic, EVERY TIME I DIE is the band for you. Please give them a warm welcome for the first time at SUMMER BREEZE!

Doesn't it sometimes appear to you that a once-dangerous monster called rock'n'roll has kinda lost its bite as of late? What at first seemed menacing and savage got tamer and tamer over time. Luckily, PETER PAN SPEEDROCK are after our life juice, at least according to the title of their latest album, 'We Want Blood!', breathing fire back into the tired beast. Still 15 years after their formation, their high-speed hard rock keeps blowing the wax out of your ears and should be an absolute feast for fans of Turbonegro, the Hellacopters or the criminally underrated Zeke. And the Dutchmen's style is (and has always been) tailor-made for a good party as well. So grow some sideburns and go see PETER PAN SPEEDROCK!



Do you also think that a verbal low blow can't really hurt? Good, that means you and BEMBERS share that opinion. Driven by the power of rock'n'roll and heavy metal, BEMBERS doesn't actually transform his energy into musical prowess but takes the piss out of all kinds of sissies and wimps instead. In his world, nothing is taboo, and he doesn't waste time on empty phrases and senseless talk. And all of this in a heavy Franconian dialect! Fast, hard, loud and dirty! Attentive festivalgoers might have seen him last year already as a special guest of J.B.O. In 2012 BEMBERS finally gets his own show on the Camel Stage. Heavy metal comedy at its finest!

2.: Cancellations
Unfortunately we need to inform that DEICIDE, ARCHITECTS, FIREWIND and THE GENERATORS have had to cancel their appearances at SUMMER BREEZE 2012 for different reasons. Apologies to all who were looking forward to their shows. We will not rest and try to book these bands again for SUMMER BREEZE in the coming years.

Make sure to memorize everything so you still manage to find your way to the stage your favourite band is playing after you've enjoyed a few cold ones.


4.: SUMMER BREEZE Catwalk
This year we want to invite you for the first time to walk the SUMMER BREEZE Catwalk. And not in your normal metal festival clothes, but in a full costume.



Every year at the festival we get to see the most outlandish outfits and costumes, such as tanga slips which almost don't even deserve that denomination, bunny hats, aluminium foil armours, etc. We want to give these brave SUMMER BREEZE fans some more attention.

Therefore at SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2012 we will be holding a contest for the best, craziest, funniest outfit. All you crazy people wishing to participate should gather on Friday, August 17th, at 21:30 in the Party Tent, left from the stage. From there you will be led onto the stage, which is normally reserved for the bands playing, to present your outfit to a hopefully huge screaming audience. The crowd will then choose the winner.

First prize: 1 x 2 VIP passes (incl. VIP camping) for SUMMER BREEZE 2013 + 10 drink vouchers
Runners up 2 to 5: 1 x 3-day tickets for SUMMER BREEZE 2013 + 10 drink vouchers each
Runners up 6 to 10: 10 drink vouchers each

In order to have the crowd on your side it would make sense to be seen all over the festival in you outfit from Wednesday on, making some self-promotion.

So if a tennis sock shall be your only puiece of clothing, or if you think a shower cap matches your grandma's apron perfectly, you are the person we are looking for.


5.: Boarding kennels during SUMMER BREEZE Open Air
As you all know, dogs are not allowed on the entire festival site. To all those who up to know had to stay away from the festival because they didn't have anyone to look after their four-legged friends, we can now offer a solution during the festival days: Hundezentrum Mittelfranken.



Hundezentrum Mittelfranken is one of the most modern boarding kennels in all of Germany. Their main focus is a dog school and boarding facilities. This includes feeding and fur care as well as the necessary social contact with humans. A 4,000m² field provides plenty of room for exercise.

For SUMMER BREEZE ticket holders the boarding kennel has a cost of 15.- Euros a day instead of the usual 18.- Euros.

Since the release of their amazing breakthrough album 'Inwards', DEW-SCENTED have been at the forefront of European thrash metal. Since then, the cool bunch led by frontman Leif Jensen have been producing fantastic albums full of unstoppable riff power and overwhelming intensity at nicely regular intervals, cementing the band's excellent reputation time and again. In 2012, DEW-SCENTED aim at kick-starting their career with an entirely new line-up – with the exception of band boss Leif – and the fantastic new album 'Icarus', and are gearing up to shatter the SUMMER BREEZE Open Air into small pieces. We are stoked to welcome the indestructible machine called DEW-SCENTED at our festival once more. Get thrashed!



When AGRYPNIE played the SUMMER BREEZE festival in 2008 for the first and only time so far, they were booked as consolation for all those who were mourning the recent disbanding of Nocte Obducta. Four years, one studio album and one EP later, the Hessians have made a career for themselves, having now reached the same level as the aforementioned group. Their new studio album is still being recorded as we speak, but their last EP 'Asche' was already an announcement for big things to come in the realm of post black metal. Expressive, multi-faceted, melancholic, dynamic – all these attributes fit AGRYPNIE like a glove and are underlined by the fact that their songs don't ever become predictable or interchangable. One of the most exciting bands our scene has to offer nowadays.

4.: Traveling to SUMMER BREEZE by public transport
For all those who are not using a car, we have compiled all the relevant information in a PDF file in order to make your journey by bus and rail as easy as possible.



Mondial Reisen, the company which offered a bus shuttle service from Stuttgart and Nuremberg airports and rail stations for the first time last year, have expanded their service to the main rail station in Ulm. This should be very useful to all those who will be traveling to the SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2012 via Munich. Mondial Reisen is a long time business partner of the SUMMER BREEZE festival.

Bus transfers from Stuttgart and Nuremberg airports and rail stations and Ulm rail station to SUMMER BREEZE

For the first time ever, there is going to be a direct bus service from Nuremberg central rail station and airport and from Ulm central rail station to the main entrance to SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2012 in Dinkelsbühl. The existing connections with Stuttgart central rail station and Stuttgart airport remain unchanged.

Since there is a required minimum number of 20 passengers in order to secure the bus service, we kindly ask you to book your trip on https://booking.mondialevents.de/summerbreeze no later than July 20, 2012. Upon successful completion of the booking process you will immediately receive a booking confirmation and your travel documents per email.

SUBWAY TO SALLY

There's no way this band could be missing from the 15th anniversary of the SUMMER BREEZE Open Air. You could almost say SUBWAY TO SALLY belong to the festival's inventory. Their first appearance was in 2000, and in 2012 it's already going to be their sixth. They love the festival, and the fans love them, especially their music. By now, the Potsdam band are not only one of the biggest medieval rock bands, but they are one of the top names of the entire hard music scene. Therefore, mainman Eric Fish and his cohorts are a more than worthy headliner for your favorite festival's birthday edition. Get ready for a fireworks display of hits – ranging from heavy, danceable songs to tender and emotional ones! There is something for everybody here! And also don't miss their latest hit album 'Schwarz In Schwarz'.



SICK OF IT ALL

We are absolutely stoked to be able to celebrate our 15th birthday with another living legend. Ladies and gentlemen, SICK OF IT ALL! This way, SUMMER BREEZE 2012 becomes a double birthday party, for the flagship of New York Hardcore is already turning 25. To celebrate in style, they are releasing 'Nonstop', an album of re-recorded old classics from the band's extensive back catalogue. No doubt about it, at their second SUMMER BREEZE appearance SICK OF IT ALL will put a fist full of brutal hardcore classics and violent gang shouts right in your face. You will witness a K.O. the Klitschko brothers wouldn't be able to top. Guys, always keep up your guard! SICK OF IT ALL haven't come all the way to give up their position as leaders of the scene!



NAPALM DEATH

NAPALM DEATH are coming to lay waste to SUMMER BREEZE once more. In 2012 the inventors of grindcore haven't lost any of their impact and inimitable aggression. Best proof is their last show in Dinkelsbühl, when they beat every last bit of mud out of all attendants' brains at noon already , and their still-hot last studio album 'Time Waits For No Slave', which kicked in all of their younger competitors' teeth as they left them behind, showing who has and will always have the biggest balls in grindcore. There's only one thing you can do when this band plays, no matter if you're a normal festivalgoer or a musician: Look up to them! It's nice to see it's possible to exist for over 20 years in such an extreme genre without having to compromise one bit. Their success proves them right! Look forward to some immortal grindcore classics! By the way: NAPALM DEATH have already begun recording their 14th studio album. Maybe there will be new grind material ready in time for the festival!

Behind the 24th door of our Advent Calendar there's none other than our favourite vikings AMON AMARTH, who are now confirmed as the second headliner for the 15th SUMMER BREEZE Open Air beside Subway To Sally.

It's almost incredible the way our Swedish friends have enjoyed a continued rise to the top of the scene.
