Paul Brady - Unfinished business

Review4507_Paul_Brady_-_Unfinished_business

It's been seven years since Paul Brady released his last studio album, Hooba Dooba. Now he's back with a new studio album - Unfinished business, his 16th studio album in a career spanning almost 40 years. During that time he's been celebrted by Ireland's RTGE television with a 6 part TV series and received a number of awards including a Lifetime achievement award from the Irish recorded music association. His songs have been covered by artists including Tina Turner, Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Cliff Richard, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins amongst others. That should tell you all you need to know about his songwriting - when artists of that calibre are covering his songs, you know they have to be top quality.

"Unfinished business" features two traditional folk songs and nince new songs. It would be wrong to describe this as a folk album though - while it may include two folk songs and have folk roots, it's got far more mainstream appeal than a typical folk album - Paul Brady's songs really do have a wide ranging appeal.

An excellent album.

"Unfinished business" will be released on 8th September 2017 via Proper records.
