Robin Trower - Where you are going to

 Betyg

Review4328_Robin_Trower_-_Where_you_are_going_to

Robin Trower has been making music for over fifty years, as a member of Procul Harum and then under his own name. Thre are very few musicians with a career that long, and it's only the truly talented that manage it, and Robin Trower is an amazing musician. With a Robin Trower album, you know you're going to get stunning guitar playing and great vocals - he's so consistent that he never disappoints, and the new album lives up to that reputation.

It's a great time to be a Blues fan - so many talented musicians are releasing great albums - Joe Bonamassa, Big Boy Bloater and the limits, Dan Patlansky, Stevie Nimmo and many more, so there's plenty of choice for fans. Robin Trower's new album joins albums from these musicians on the list of albums that fans really need to buy this year.

With "The fruits of your desire", there's a feel of early ZZ Top with their Bluesy sound both in the vocals and the guitar playing, although I'd rate the guitar work here higher than on those ZZ Top tracks.

"Back where you belong" is more blues-funk. It's an example of how diverse this album is - there's a huge amount of variety, showing that Robin Trower has no intention of playing it safe and sticking to a tried and tested formula but is instead constantly trying new things.

"We will be together some day" is dedicated to his late wife. It's a slow gentle song and can only be described as beautiful and moving. It's a real highlight and stands out even in an album that is full of great songs.

Rather than taking it easy at 71 years old, Robin Trower is still touring and releasing great albums. This really is a very strong album and is well worth a listen.

"Where you are going to" will be released on 6th May 2016
