Orden Ogan - Ravenhead

Review3839_Orden_Ogan_-_Ravenhead

German band Orden Ogan released their first self produced demo/EP in 2004, then in 2008 released their debut album - "Vale". They signed with AFM records in 2009 then soon after had one of their songs "We are pirates" used by German TV channel RTL in their coverage for the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Monza, gaining the band a huge amount of exposure and new fans. In 2010 they released their second album, "Easton hope" and in 2012 released "To the end", and album that got a great reception from fans and press alike. Now two years later Orden Ogan are back with their fourth album - "Ravenhead".

As always the album artwork is painted by Andreas Marschall, and it looks great.

The first song to be released from the album is "F.E.V.E.R." - check out the video at the bottom of this review and give it a listen.

So what can you expect from the album? Well, you can start with some superb guitar work (tracks such as "Deaf among the blind" really showcase the guitar work), fast powerful drumming, and some great vocals for the verses and big choral choruses. I loved the band's last album, "To the end", but this new album is even better - this is a band that isn't content to stay still but are constantly making their albums bigger and better than the last one.

While this is broadly "Power metal" that genre just doesnt do justice to what you have here as it draws in elements from a range of genres or sub-genres. This truly is an excellent album, and is highly recommended.

"Ravenhead" will be released on 16th January 2015
