Asia - XXX

 Betyg

Review1779_asia_-_xxx

It's 30 years since legendary British rockers Asia released their debut album - the self titled release that quickly made a big name for the band with that debut album spending 9 weeks at Number 1 on the Billboard top 100 album chart and selling enough copies to go multi-platinum. Since then the band have released a steady stream of albums and undergone various linuep changes. In 2006 the original band members reunited and since then Asia has been playing with that same original lineup. XXX is their third album since the reunion and is once again being produced by Mike Paxman (who worked with the band on their last album) and is again being released on Frontiers Records. The title is a reflection of the years since the debut album (XXX being roman numerals for 30).

"Face on the bridge" is the first single to be taken from the album, and what a song it is - catchy, polished and really a great radio friendly song.

To be honest that pretty much sums up the album - it's packed with great songs and with it's catchy choruses, great melodies and beautiful keyboard driven songs this really is a fantastic album - it really does impress. Time seems to fly by when listening to the album and before you know it, 50 minutes have passed and you've reached the end of the album.

This is certainly the best album ASIA have released in a long time - it's an excellent album that I've been listening to a lot since it arrived to review. It's an album that all ASIA fans are going to want to hear, and more importantly it's likely to win them a load of new fans from the AOR/melodic rock scene.

An album that all AOR or Melodic rock fans need to check out - a top album from one of the all-time great bands.

XXX is out on 2nd July 2012 via Frontiers records
