Sabaton Open Air - Rockstad Falun

Rockstad: Falun started up as a small festival in 2008 indoors in a small room up in the regiment's area in Falun. The following year, 2009, they moved the festival down to the center and was there only a year. After that, they grew very quickly and got a seat up on Lugnet in Falun, below the ski jumps.

2013 changed the festival name from Rockstad: Falun to Sabaton Open Air. This festival will range from local bands to major rock bands worldwide.

BLAZE BAYLEY is a singer/songwriter born 29th May 1963 in Birmingham, England. Having started his professional music career in WOLFSBANE in 1984, his career elevated to global heights when he joined IRON MAIDEN with whom he released two albums and toured worldwide between 1994 and 1999.

After leaving Iron Maiden, Blaze embarked on a solo career and in March 2018 will release his 10th album, alongside a truly enviable reputation as one of the hardest working artists currently touring worldwide.

The past 3-4 years has been an exciting period in Blaze’s career, with a real sense of purpose, increased sales and media attention, not least with the recent front cover of Powerplay magazine (November 2017 issue), together with a 3 page tour report from North America. Blaze received further recognition when voted by fans as the 67th best singer of all time in Sweden Rock magazine, whilst a guest performance with Disturbed at the UK’s premiere music festival Download was another highlight.
Blaze’s current release schedule is based on his ‘Infinite Entanglement’ trilogy of albums, following a sci-fi story and concept. Part I ‘Infinite Entanglement’ was released in March 2016, Part II ‘Endure and Survive’ in March 2017 and Part III ‘The Redemption of William Black’ is set for March 2018.

Whilst Classic Rock magazine, Powerplay and more, have provided special features and interviews, the reviews have also been unanimous in hailing ‘Infinite Entanglement’ as a triumph. For example….

“Wonderful moments, great beating brilliance, Maiden riffs, solos that blast off into space, pushy pieces, sing-along choruses” Powerplay

For writing, recording and touring worldwide, Blaze is flanked by three musicians from British metal band ABSOLVA – Chris Appleton on guitar, Martin McNee on drums and Karl Schramm on bass, welcomed by the unwavering support of the die-hard fans, also registering with a new younger audience, as well as helping to alert the Maiden fanbase to Blaze’s music.

With this band announcement we wish you a Merry Christmas, and a very Happy & Heavy New Year!

- We will be back with more bands after the holidays!

Today we can reveal the last bands for the 2017 line-up and they all will make the pre-party Wednesday such a blast!

Convivium is a melodic trash metal band from the southern parts of Dalecarlia, Sweden. Formed in 2011, they play a fast and aggressive brand of metal that still retains an excellent sense of melody and harmony, providing a very complete listening experience. Combine that with absolutely slamming live shows and you have an extremely dangerous band on the rise!

This was recognized by the jury of Wacken Metal Battle when they awarded Convivium the 5th place in the world finals at Wacken Open Air, among very fierce competition. The band continued 2014 with the release of their explosive latest EP ”Staring Into Black”, appearances at Rockstad: Falun and several club gigs in Stockholm. In 2016 Convivium had the great honor of opening for Raubtier during Rovdjursturnén, taking them all across their homeland.

Mark Zero was founded in Falun, Sweden in 2013 and now based in Gothenburg, Mark Zero is about creating music that truly reflects its members, which wasn’t always the case in some of their previous musical projects. Already playing together in a funk-rock quintet, guitarist John NT, bass player Kammo Olayvar and drummer Robin Risander realized their true calling was heavy metal, and having recruited Scott Crocker on guitars, Mark Zero was complete!

With strong melodies and meaningful lyrics in a dark soundscape with seriously detuned guitars, Mark Zero is now ready to show everyone what dedication and hard work can bring!

Cryonic Temple was founded in 1996 in Dalarna, Sweden. Together with Orphan Gypsy and Sabaton they are considered the originators of the of the new Power Metal wave in Dalarna in early 2000's. Through the years they performed at festivals such as Sweden Rock Festival, HeadBangers Open Air, Sabaton Open Air, Peace And Love, Gothenburg Metal Festival, Motala Metal Festival, 2000 Decibel and many more.

Cryonic Temple have also opened for Uriah Heep, Saxon, Tad Morose, Civil War, Lion’s Share and Paul Di’Anno

Nale was formed in 2007, Nale quickly gained ground in the local live scene as an explosive, energetic and in-your-face live act. Having released two EP’s - “Nale” (2007) and “From Sh*t to Salvation” (2009), mixed by grammy awarded producer Chris Laney (Candlemass, Europe, Crashdïet) in legendary Polar Studios - Nale recorded a full-length album with producer Lawrence Mackrory (F.K.Ü, Darkane) resulting in the release of critically acclaimed debut album Ghost Road Blues (2012). Nale has since released the EP “Zombieland” and toured with the likes of Crucified Barbara and The Resistance at clubs all over Sweden, played at Getaway Rock Festival and Metallsvenskan but also headlining an own tour in India.

The band recently finished their second full length album “Death, Skulls, Satan” and is currently seeking a label for its release.

Brothers of Metal. Some call them the greatest metal band that ever existed. Even though they met both fame and fortune they still stayed modest. They never called themselves the greatest or the best, the most cunning. Because deep inside they know they are all that and more, they are mighty warriors of Valhalla chosen by Odin allfather. They play true metal that leave posers and wimps in shame of their way of life.

Metal Hammer will most likely give their upcoming album 12/10 giving Brothers of Metal their rightful place on the throne, as kings and queens of true metal. If you miss this battle, you shall forever live in regret and despair.
Come, watch the battle, become a believer.

D-A-D Confirmed for Sabaton Open Air 2016!

D-A-D has delivered a bunch of strong albums with hits like "A Horse With No Name" and "Gods Favorite" from the album "DAD Draws a Circle" (1987), "Sleeping My Day Away" & "Girl Nation" from "No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims " (1989) and "Bad Craziness" and the totally immortal ballad "Laugh 'n' A 1/2” from their hit album "Riskin it All” from 1991.

And then we just had named a few of the band's most famous songs from the early years...

The last time they visited Falun and our festival was in 2012 where they made great success with a fantastic show, and now we can welcome one of the best rock band vi ever had back to Lugnet and Sabaton Open Air 2016, where they will be the main act on Friday night.

A Danish adrenaline injection that no one should miss!
