Our Parklife home in Adelaide is beautiful the Botanic Park located in the heart of city and neighbouring the Adelaide Botanic Garden, Adelaide Zoo and the River Torrens.
We acknowledge the Kaura clan as the traditional custodians of the country on which Botanic Park has been constructed.
Botanic Park dates back to 1866 and has been used over the years as favourite picnic spot, the home of public debate at speakers corner as well as a venue for world class events like Womadelaide, Moonlight Cinema and of course Parklife!
Please respect the culture and heritage of our beautiful venue when you party at Parklife!
For one of the biggest names on the UK charts at the moment Labrinth oozes a calm modesty in person, especially while giving up his time to chat with us about his approach to music and his first trip to Australia for Parklife 2012.
With dubstep, rock and hip-hop influences on his album it is pretty hard to pin Labrinth’s style down, even the man himself struggles when asked to describe it:
‘My music is very much like a box of chocolates. You never know what style you’re gonna get. I’m very much into the idea of making what I feel. And most artists have one sound; but I kind of vary it. One day I’ll be singing punchy songs, the next day I’ll be playing head-banging dubstep. Then if I want to mix it all together, I’ll find a way of doing that... It’s just like a mash-up of loads of different energy.’
With a live show that has garnered praise and attention across the US and UK Labrinth has had his share of crazy on stage moments, and the most memorable moment so far is one that held serious elements of disaster! ‘It wasn’t really a highlight, but, I remember jumping off stage; and it was a really high stage. And I jumped off of it and nearly landed on my face, but I just dialed it out. And that’s why I remember it; I just remember it because it nearly turned out to be a very embarrassing moment. I sort of fell on the floor, and got up quickly and just danced it off. Just turned it into a dance move, then it was all alright.’
Labrinth will be playing his first live shows in Australia at Parklife 2012 and he has high hopes that the crowds will be as excited as he is. “Australia’s been good to me already and I haven’t even been there. I think it’s going to be really cool to finally get in contact with people over there. But I think it’s going to be sick man.”
We can’t wait for Labrinth to drop his huge hits ‘Earthquake’, ‘Express Yourself’ and ‘Treatment’ when he joins the Parklife tour in just over a month!
