One of the largest open-air black metal/heavy metal and folk music festivals in the Baltic region, Europe. It is held annually since 1999 and attracts approx. 1500–2000 visitors each year. The festival distinguishes itself from other major metal festivals by incorporating the shows of black metal aesthetic-related performers such as medieval folk bands and military-historical reconstruction clubs. Lithuania
It is the festival, comprising of the most extreme forms of music, with archaic folklore and the accents of Baltic history. Festival‘s challenge – unity of contemporary extreme music, pagan and black metal genres with the ethnic culture of the Balts.
Spirit of the event can be described by the following: waiting for the battle, excitement, blood, pain, anger, sewn, aggression, euphoria of victory, joy, fun, unrestrained emotions ... We take all that from the past and nowaday and combine everything into a single vibrating matter with the slogan "Let‘s arise"! With the weapon of thunder – lightning blade. Simply, "Arise with the Bolt"!!! Here war drums rumble, horns drone, weapons clangour, ancient war songs are being sung...and the crash of Black Metal is being pealed.
KILKIM ŽAIBU take place on the great Lukstas lakeside by the glare of pagan bonfires – where we will again celebrate Midsummer feast for 3 days in true Baltic style!
Festival goers already know what to expect – carefully selected both local and international metal music artists, Baltic folk music groups, ancient fight clubs and craftsmen, bonfires and songs until the very morning light.
